Mayor Roderick T. Nicholson

Roderick T. Nicholson is the present Mayor of Terry and the first African American to hold this office.  The Mayor was recently re-elected to his second term of office.  In addition to serving as Mayor, Nicholson also serves on the Boards of the Mississippi Municipal League (MML) and the Mississippi Spay and Neuter (MS SPAN) organization.   Mayor Nicholson also serves as State President of the Mississippi Urban Council.

The Board of Aldermen consists of Virginia Smith Bailey, Elzena Kitchens Johnson, Joseph O. Kendrick, Jr., and Doris J. Young. The Mayor and Board serve a four-year term and are officially elected as Independents. 

There are three (3) county officers who are from the Terry area:

George S. Smith (Supervisor, District 5)

Clyde Chapman (Justice Court Judge, District 5)

Bennie Buckner (Constable, District 5)


The Mississippi State Senate representative is David Blount who is from Jackson, MS

The Town of Terry is represented in the Mississippi State House of Representatives by Jim Ellington and Gregory Holloway.
