The projects include developing an\narboretum at the local park, a community fruit orchard and the Business\ndistrict landscaping. The Mississippi Urban Forest Council wrote the grant for\nthe town and will help with all aspects of project implementation. Volunteer\ngroups that will also participate in the projects are Byram-Terry Junior\nAuxiliary, Collis Hill Church Brotherhood, Friends of Terry, Terry Lion\u2019s Club,\nTerry Planning Committee, Terry Women\u2019s Club, and Terry High School Yellow\nJackets Alumni Association. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI am very excited that the Town has received this $25,000\nRailroad Grant for tree planting and beautification throughout the Town\u201d, said\nMayor Joseph Kendrick, Jr. This will be good for our downtown area and\nsomething that our business owners in this area can be proud of and \u201cI think\nthis will draw more people to our downtown area and will make our citizens\ngratified to drive through downtown. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A press event with representatives from the CN, America In\nBloom and the MS Urban Forest Council will be held at Terry City Hall, 315 West\nCunningham Street, Terry Mississippi on Wednesday, February 13th at 4:00 PM. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThese types of activities are significant improvements to\nthe community. The social impact of green space, trees and gardens can be\nparticularly pronounced when public spaces are transformed into places of\nbeauty that foster safe places for neighborhood interaction, economic and\nproperty value enhancement, and improves the lives of those that live in or visit\nthe community.\u201d according to Donna Yowell, executive director of the MUFC. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">CN is a true backbone of the economy, transporting approximately C$250 billion worth of goods annually for the wide range of business sectors, ranging from resource products to manufactured products to consumer goods, across a rail network spanning Canada and mid-America. The Mississippi Urban Forest Council is Mississippi\u2019s own statewide nonprofit that works with communities and local groups to improve quality of life and support strong communities for economic success on a local level. MUFC was recently recognized by the MS Business Journal as one of Mississippi\u2019s best nonprofits. We are thrilled to work so very closely with the Town of Terry and to provide this opportunity for more enhancement to our state. These projects will begin a series of Arboretums in the state and these cities will become part of the <strong>Mississippi Arboretum Trail<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cHelp Green Our Communities.
